Useful details

We deliberately chose 1.00 pm. as an entry slot for the group entry time to accommodate those travelling from further afield and to hold the meet-up after lunch, as there aren’t many nearby options for food.

  • Eating: Please eat before you arrive!  There is no cafe on site, so bring a thermos or take away coffee!
  • There are no immediately near places to eat or drink, so it's a good idea to pick something up on the way if you can or bring a packed lunch.  Most cafes are a 5-10 minute walk.
  • Nearby supermarkets are:  Co- op (3 Summer Street, SE1 9RE) or Amazon Fresh (110 Southwark Street. SE1 OTA), M&S Simply Food (90 Southwark Street, SE1 OHX)
  • The easiest place to find something to eat is to head to the Tate Modern. This has a number of cafes nearby, including LEON Bankside (7 Canvey Street, SE1 9AN), which is quite spacious.
  • Cloakroom: There is a small cloak room at Maths World for coats and bags (free of charge). Please note this is not attended and any items are left there at your own risk.
  • Accessibility: The exhibition and exhibits are accessible to wheelchair users. There is also an accessible toilet.
  • Noise: MathsWorld can be loud at times. A limited number of ear defenders are available at the front desk, but we recommend bringing your own if you are sensitive to noise.

Agenda

This is a self-led visit, giving you the flexibility to enjoy the day at your own pace and in a way that best suits your children.

Below is a suggested outline for the day:

  • 1.00pm:  Potential Plus UK families have a 1.00pm entry slot to Maths World.
  • Around 3.00 p.m: End of day: Optional walk along Southbank to The Children's Play Area, Jubilee Gardens (Belvedere Road, SE1 8), which is right by the London Eye.

Please feel free to do whatever works best for your family — the play area is just a nice optional destination if you’d like somewhere to head afterwards, and is near Waterloo, where many families may travel from.

Recommended Age

This meetup is designed with younger children in mind, ideal for those aged 5-10 years old.

Children outside this age range are very welcome to attend.

We’ve included an age guide as children often like to know there will be others a similar age present.

Venue

Address: Arches, 6 Burrell Street, Southwark, London, SE1 OUN

Nearest Stations:

  • Southwark (Jubilee Line): 5 min walk
  • Blackfriars Station (Thameslink): 5 min walk
  • Blackfriars Station (Circle and District Line): 9 min walk
  • London Bridge Station (Jubilee, Northern, National Rail): 17 min walk
  • Waterloo East Station (National Rail): 8 min walk
  • Bus: Blackfriars Road stops SL or SM
  • Cars: No parking is available on-site, and we recommend arriving by public transport.

Ticket Price

General Entry:

  • Adults: £14.50
  •  Children (3 - 17yrs) and concessions: £13
  • Under 3s: Free
  • Family of 4 (Max 2 adults): £50.00

Concessions include registered disabled persons, registered carers, students and OAPs.

Each family will pay at the entry desk upon arrival.

We’ve arranged it this way because there isn’t a group discount available, and it also means each family can get their ticket as an annual pass. The annual pass is free but needs a separate transaction from the entry tickets. With it, you can return to MathsWorld as many times as you like!

Please note that tickets for this slot are not available online, as the 1:00 p.m. entry has been reserved exclusively for Potential Plus UK member families.

Please note: You MUST register with Potential Plus UK, so we know how many people are coming. If you don't register, you may not being able to enter at the same time as the other families.

Registration

We request that Potential Plus UK members are signed into their account when registering.

Please complete the booking in your name. If you have more than one child participating, you can add them as additional attendees.

Registration Deadline

Registration will close at midnight on Wednesday 14 January at midnight.
